July, 2007

We always enjoy the Fourth of July parade in Saxtons River, a small village just west of North Westminster, where Penney's Mom lives.

This year was no exception, but Bob almost died laughing when he saw the "sandwich-board" sign outside the S. R. Inn on the day of the parade.

The west side of the sign is pictured to the left; the east side to the right. You always want to check your signage out with a friendly neighborhood English major!

The "Barn Project"

Penney at work on the old paint (note the baleful expression).

Scraped and sanded and ready for painting! (We had to wait nearly a week after applying a mild bleach solution to the mold under the old paint because it started raining and just kept it up).

The two contractors at work. Penney is touching up the red; Bob is painting the white trim; the gray is primer.

And behold: the results!
George brings a bag of tomatoes!

At the Simon Pearce Glass Factory, where we went to get some new "good" glasses, you can watch the glass blowers at work (we think Jeff's cuter!).

Opposite: a square vase is formed in a wooded mold (which has been soaked in water!)

A really good picture of Mom and Michael
