March, 2011

Oh, what a busy and wonderful month, in most respects. Bob did have one epic fail: the doors he bought for the hallway closets proved to be several inches too short (he just took the salesman's word for what "standard closet door height" was; apparently, it has changed since 1960!). But … Craigslist to the rescue! I put an ad in and, lo and behold!, someone bought them.

Early in the month, Bob headed North for Libby's first birthday, which was celebrated quietly with the family on the actual day (Uncle Christopher had to work the day of the "Y'all Come" party) and again at a gathering of friends on the following Saturday.

Toward the end of the month (on Penney's Spring Break), we made the first of what proved to be several trips to Vermont, and finally got to eat a meal (lunch) at the fabled Inn in Woodstock (where the ski lift was invented!)

Right: What an adorable face!

Libby, celebrating her birthday (somewhat more decorously than Xannie did a month earlier!), above.

Right: Libby in the "birthday dress" Grandma Penney made for her (I couldn't get the camera focussed very well, but the dress was just too neat not to include; it really was a "labor of love" and Penney enjoyed making it.)

Gina (above, with daughters Rachel and Sophia), is one of CeCe's closest friends and the family (plus son Nick, not in this picture—he was probably off playing video games!) are often included in family events.

This is just one of my all-time favorite pictures of Libby; I think her big sister, Cait, took it.

OK, OK … I lied about her celebrating more decorously than Xannie!

Far left: Penney outside the Woodstock Inn; the "spa" sign must have been the inspiration for her later "sunbath" (above).

Near Left: One of my favorite pictures of Xannie; he's one of the most photogenic boys I know!
