Andrew Robert Winter, Emily Lynn Shipley Winter,

and Adalyn Leigh Winter

Andrew, Emily and Adallyn (born 8/3/10) make their home in Westlake, a few miles nortwest of Berea, and about equidistant between her parents and us. We try to see them as often as possible,

Andrew, 31, is a 2003 graduate of Ohio Northern University, with a major in Music Education. He completed his class work during the Spring quarter of 2002 and did his student teaching at Fort Shawnee High School (about fifteen miles south of Lima, Ohio) during the Fall Quarter of 2002, after working band camps for Ft. Shawnee and for the high school in Neil Armstrong's home town of Wapakoneta.

Andrew is an accomplished musician, whose principal instrument is the horn (sometimes called the "french horn"). His Senior Recital (also in the Fall of 2002) featured one of the Mozart horn concerti and the horn concerto by Richard Strauss. He also plays piano, is an excellent guitarist, was a section leader (bass) for the University Singers, ONU's premier vocal music organization, toured extensively with them, and on his last trip got to sing at the "Crystal Cathedral" in Garden Grove, California.

Adalyn Leigh Winter was born August 3, 2010 at Fairview General Hospital in Cleveland. Her Daddy wasn't a bit proud of her!

Emily Shipley, an ONU classmate and native of Bay Village, Ohio, married Andrew on June 28, 2003. Emily was a Graphic Design major, who presented a wonderful senior show in April, 2002, a multimedia tribute to the victims and heroes of September 11, 2001. Andrew helped her hang the show, and Penney joined her Mom in organizing a reception following (to see photos of the show itself, click here.)

While at ONU, Emily served as President for three years of Tau Beta Sigma, a music honorary, and was also active in other campus music organizations (she and Andrew got to know one another in the University Band). She was also a member of Kappa Pi (an art honorary) and of the American Instituite of Graphic Arts, which she served for two years as Secretary.

Emily is employed as a graphic artist and designer at the Berea Printing Company in Berea; when Penney is off from school, they will manage to have lunch together some days.
